Our plans for the Big Day
Right now we are planning on having the wedding at Xtabi and then having a small "reception" at my good friend Joslin's place.
Joslin's Gardens
Joslin was a very young man when my parents first started going to Jamaica. (They've been going every year for 20 years) In those days he was working for a lady named Mama Hilton who owned a place with a few cottages where my parents would stay. When she passed away, she left Joslin some land at what was then the rural West End of Jamaica. Joslin cleared the land and built a home for his family. He has since been forced to relocate to chilly Wisconsin in order to make better money for his growing family. He and his wife Laurie have two lovely children; Joshua and Josie.
Joslin and his family have become part of our family. My mother and I both claim Joslin as our "brother". I think of him as the bossy, older brother I didn't ask for. Joslin's family is always part of our family get-togethers.
But What About Joslin's Gardens?
Sorry, I have a tendency to go off on a tangent. Joslin's lovely home is a place where people come to stay. All the rooms there are very nice (and already taken by my family for the wedding) Walking up to his front porch always makes me "officially" feel like I'm in Jamaica. In fact, if you go here, you can see lot's of pictures of Joslin's place.
This is my favorite picture of Joslin. His favorite thing is to work on his Jamaican yard when he gets to leave Wisconsin and go back to J-Town. (What people that have been to Jamaica call Jamaica)
